Homeowner insurance claims for roof
repair or replacement can be a lifeline
when your roof sustains damage due
to various factors like hail, wind, or
leaks. While the process might be
complex, the payout can significantly
offset the costs, ranging from partial
repairs to full roof replacements. Be
proactive! Call your Mortgage
company and advise them of your
claim and inquire about their
procedures for draft endorsement
and contractor’s affidavits, lein
releases, etc.
XTREME XTERIORS
Homeowner
Insurance Claims
If anyone suggests that you can
“make money” on the roof
installation, be extremely cautious
because that is insurance fraud and
you and the other participant could
become involved in legal and criminal
charges. The insurance companies,
due to the heavy losses sustained in
the last several years, are constantly
monitoring the claims to protect
themselves and their policyholders.
XTREME XTERIORS
Insurance Claims
Process
Call “Xtreme Xteriors” when the first installment
comes in from the mortgage company. The first
installment is due as the down payment. When
the installation crew arrive to begin the work,
please check the materials to verify that the
shingle color and drip edge color are correct.
Call Xtreme Xteriors
Upon completion, “Xtreme Xteriors” will do a
final inspection on the job and go over the
checklist with you. Please note any items that
need attention (if any) and sign the final
inspection checklist. If your mortgage company
has requested a final inspection, call them now.
Final Inspection
The final invoice will be faxed or e-mailed
directly to the insurance company and a copy
will be sent to the homeowner. Upon receipt of
the final insurance installment, the invoice is
due. Please contact “Xtreme Xteriors” to
arrange for the pickup of the final installment.

If you have a mortgage on your property, the
first check will be made out to the insured and
the mortgage company. Contact your mortgage
company and ask for the insurance department
or the loss draft department for details on their
process to get the first check endorsed. DO
NOT sign the check until it comes back from the
mortgage company in case the check gets lost
in the mail.
If There is a Mortgage on the
Property
At this time, finalize the work order with your
contractor “Xtreme Xteriors”. Per an agreement
with all insurance companies Xtreme Xteriors
will agree to do the installation for what the
insurance company agrees to pay for the scope
of work plus your deductible. Anyone willing to
do the job for less, especially when there is an
abundance of work, is probably a sign that they
are forced to sell on price alone; this situation is
usually an indication of poor quality or cash-
flow problems.

The insurance adjuster will call you to make an
appointment. Be sure to get the adjuster’s
name and cell phone number. Go ahead and
set the appointment and Contact “Xtreme
Xteriors” giving the time, date and adjuster’s
name and cell phone number. When the roof
work and/or collateral work is approved, the
insured will receive a summary statement and
an initial installment for an estimated fifty
percent of the claim.

Temporary repairs are also covered by insurance
to protect your property from further loss or
damage. (A typical temporary roof repair should
not exceed $300).
Secure Your Property
To ensure the scope includes all damages, and
that your needs are met, at a “price agreeable”
to the insurance company and your contractor,
the insurance adjuster and a Xtreme Xteriors
inspector should meet.
Adjuster Meeting
The insurance check normally requires two
endorsements, the insured and the mortgage
company. Do not endorse the check, first send
the check to your mortgage company and
request their endorsement and rapid return.
(This will help speed things up).
Send Check to Mortgage Company
After you and your contractor have agreed on
the scope and terms of the claim, you should
schedule the work and verify the material color
with your contractor. (Expect to pay the first
check at this time, but not to exceed more than
50% of the total amount of the contract).
Review and Schedule Project
Once the job is completed and you are 100%
satisfied with the work, you should expect to pay
the balance of your first proceeds, plus your
deductible, to your contractor. Before issuing
the final payment to your contractor, be sure he
has provided you with all of your warranty
papers and waiver of lien affidavits. (This will
limit your liabilities and keep you in control).
Inspect Your Project and Final
Payment
Keep all documentation in a safe place and treat
it as you would any warranty information. Enjoy
your newly restored home, and peace of mind!
